About the Event
Discover the wonders of Crystal Cave on our one-hour tour. This guided walking tour is great for all ages. Explore the passages more than 7 stories below ground. Learn about the history and geology of Wisconsin’s longest cave!
Learn about the history and geology of Crystal Cave. See stalactites, stalagmites, and other cave formations on your tour. Learn about limestone caves and why the unique small druzy crystals in the walls give Crystal Cave its name. No matter what is happening on the surface, Crystal Cave is dry and 50F (10C). It’s a great experience for all ages.
While WISE is not covering the cost of other activities, mini golf and gemstone panning will be available. The gift shop will also be open.
Part I – Intro Video
Your field trip starts with a short video on Crystal Cave.
- Introduces rocks, caves, cave formations, biology/bats, and conservation
- Video for elementary and middle schools (option others)
Part II – Tour the Cave
- One-hour tour
- Lead by a certified cave guide
- Discuss geology and how caves are formed
- Learn about and see cave formations including stalactites and stalagmites
- Learn about animals that make caves their homes
- Experience a collection of florescent and phosphorescent rocks *(glow under black light)
Some things to note:
- This event is rain or shine. Please dress appropriately.
- Crystal Cave has a shaded picnic ground areas and covered shelter that are available. If you would like to eat on site, please bring a sack lunch.
Arrive: 9:50 (This gives you a little time for parking, restrooms, and looking around.)

BE AWARE: THERE IS A CAP OF 40 ATTENDEES PER DAY. BEFORE YOU REGISTER, CHECK TO SEE THAT YOUR ENTIRE GROUP CAN FIT ON THE DAY YOU ARE SELECTING.
