About the Event
This is a fully customizable course designed for 8-12th graders.
Students will receive 1 high school elective credit. Depending on the careers chosen to research, a second credit may be assigned.
College & Career Readiness
This dynamic course is designed for students who are navigating their career paths and seeking to develop the skills necessary for professional success. Through a blend of interactive workshops, guest speaker sessions, and practical assignments, students will explore various career options, understand the job market, and learn how to effectively present themselves to potential employers. By the end of the course, students will have a clearer understanding of their career aspirations, a resume and cover letter, improved interviewing skills, and a strategic plan for their potential career.

Resume and Cover Letter Writing: Learn to create compelling resumes and cover letters that highlight individual skills and experiences.

Course Format

Schoology: Completion of assignments and work will be turned in through Schoology.
Unit 1: Career Exploration/Strengths Finder Application and Connection
Unit 2: Resume, Cover Letter, References, and Interviewing Process
Unit 3: Applications and Interviews
Unit 4: Reality Check/Workplace Skills (Students will use their intended career salary/pay in order to pay "bills")
Unit 5: Capstone Project on Career (Presentation to Council members, teachers, and case managers)
