November Events in Stevens Point

 

  • Saturday, Nov 8 : “Holiday Fest Arts & Crafts Show” (9:00 AM-3:00 PM) invites families to stroll between 50+ local artists’ booths, browse handmade treasures, enjoy a bake sale, and capture that early-holiday buzz together. Free to attend.
  • On Sunday, Nov 9 at 3:30 PM the University of Wisconsin‑Stevens Point Allen F. Blocher Planetarium hosts “Stories of the Constellations” — a cozy, family-friendly show where children and grown-ups learn ancient tales behind the stars, perfect for an indoor wintry afternoon outing. Free.
  • Throughout November — including Nov 4, 6, 9, 11, 13, 16, 18, 20, 23, 29, 30 — the K.B. Willett Arena opens for “Public Skating” sessions (e.g., 10:30 AM-12:00 PM) in downtown Stevens Point. Bring the family, lace up your skates, glide together and cap it off with warm drinks or treats. Low cost (check arena fees).
  • On Thursday, Nov 20 at 6:00 PM the “Downtown Stevens Point Holiday Parade” lights up Main Street (820 Main St) with floats, music, holiday cheer, and a chance for kids to wave to Santa and friends in the glowing parade lights. Family-friendly and free.
  • On Saturday, Nov 29 from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM the “MadeCentral Merry Market” at the Stevens Point Opera House invites families to sip, shop, and support local makers: 16 Central WI craft vendors offering handmade goods, special treats and fun for all ages. Free admission, with a festive vibe.

Local libraries have a lot to offer besides just checking out books. Check out their resource pages for ideas to keep the adventure going with your child’s learning. 
 
Portage County Public Library (plus 3 branch libraries in the area) - Check out their Family Read Aloud Challenge; even if you don’t register with the library, start your own read-aloud family challenge. Here is a link to their Family Read Aloud Favorites.

Central Wisconsin Children’s Museum, Stevens Point - Check out their exhibits that encourage children (up to 3rd grade) and adults to interact with learning. Cost is reduced with small group visits
 
Create Portage County - IDEA Center - Check out the amazing set of resources available to us through the IDEA Center!  We have a WISE Academy membership and are able to bring in families and students to explore and take advantage of what the IDEA Center has to offer!  Included in our membership is access to makerspaces, and the 3D Printer!  Talk to your WISE teacher if you are interested in using this space for yourself or a group!
