About the Event
Unfortunately, there hasn't been enough rain this season to boat out into the rice fields, but that doesn't mean you won't have a hands-on experience!
This nature tour will include information on wetland restoration, wild rice, and how the Oneida Tribe is working to revitalize the area for robust growth. They will showcase rice harvesting techniques, take you on a plant identification walk with a little foraging thrown in. And, of course, a wild rice tour wouldn't be complete without tasting some!
From the Coordinator:
"As we learn the growing cycles and the Traditional Ecological Knowledge that the rice holds for us, we would enjoy hearing from you any knowledge or stories you would like to share. Together we can prepare for the next harvest season and share more experiences with this food relative."
Date: Wednesday, Sept. 20
