Wastewater Treatment - Stevens Point
Where does water go when we flush the toilet? How is that water cleaned? What happens to all the solid waste products? Does it smell bad? So many questions! Let's get them answered.
Time & Location
Nov 11, 2022, 9:30 AM – Nov 12, 2022, 11:00 AM
Stevens Point, 301 Bliss Ave, Stevens Point, WI 54481, USA
About the Event
This tour is VERY limited and geared toward upper middle and high schoolers. That doesn't mean that interested younger children can't attend. By all means, come. If you want to "frontload" the learning experience, check out the additional resource videos at the bottom of the Field Studies webpage to compare flushables and learn about water.
During the tour, students will learn about the wastewater treatment process from start to finish.
- How the wastewater gets to the plant
- How we treat it along the way
- Where it ultimately goes
They will learn about the different laboratory tests that are required to run, what biosolids are and what is done with them, and something "pretty cool that is not very common among wastewater treatment plants." (Your guess is as good as mine!)
Students will learn about what it's like to work in a wastewater plant and the education required to do so.
This might not be the most glamorous tour, but it sure sounds informative!
9:30am - Meet in parking lot
Tour lasts for 60 to 90 minutes depending on interests and questions.
Until event is full. Only 20 spots available.
To be added to a waitlist, please email Kari: email@example.com
