About the Event
You don’t have to walk uphill, both ways, to discover the history of Wisconsin schoolhouses. At Reed School, class is back in session, and this time fun and games are encouraged! Explore this 1915 school and see how students learned and thrived in a one-room classroom environment without the internet, computers, electricity, or even running water. Don’t forget to erase the chalkboard!
9:20 - Gather in Parking Lot
9:30 - Enter as a group
Time for lunch will be incorporated, but you will need to bring a sack lunch...it can be in a cooler, though. Pails not required. There is no running water on the premises. They do have some bottled water, but bringing your own drinks is advisable.
12:30ish - Depart
Registration Deadline: Wednesday, October 4th
The toilet is a "modern" composting outhouse.
Due to limited space, this activity will be limited to WISE students + a parent/guardian, nuclear relatives, and caregivers.
There is no charge for guests: nuclear relatives and caregivers.
Unfortunately, there is no flexibility with ticket availability. The room seats 30 students and that's it.
Select the number of tickets required for your group. If there aren't enough tickets, DO NOT register. Either register for the other date or ask to be put on the waiting list.
We may have the opportunity to visit the 1897 Clark County Jailhouse Museum while out in Neillsville. On the registration page, it will ask you if you are interested in that tour after visiting the Reed Schoolhouse. (Remember, the Schoolhouse will be a minimum of 3 hours long.) I know nothing about the jailhouse, other than it's there and looks interesting. When I know more, and if there's interest, I'll pass on the information.
Cancelation:
While we hope that everyone who registers is able to attend, we know that sometimes things happen. Please inform us at least 48 hours in advance if you are unable to attend.
