This is a HANDS-ON field trip where students will explore horse psychology, handling safety, grooming, anatomy, and saddle fitting, while learning about horse care, careers, and how horses help the disabled.

About the Event




This is going to be a phenomenal day of learning equine information!


Students will learn:

-            Horse psychology

-            Horse handling safety

-            Grooming

-            Horse anatomy

-            How to fit a saddle (“chalk” a horse)

-            How horses help the disabled

-            Jobs that work with horses

-            What is needed to own a horse

-            Annual cost of horse ownership


Students will not be riding horses, but they will be hands-on with grooming.


Arrive: 9:50am (This gives you a little time for parking, restrooms, and looking around.)

Event: 2:00pm


Important

  • There will be a half hour for lunch, but you must bring a sack lunch. There is nothing nearby to drive-through and grab food. (There is a little coffee shop about 10 miles away, or so.)

  • There is NO running water and NO electricity. There's a porta-potty for restroom needs. You may want to bring wipes to clean hands.

  • This class is rain or shine. We will be in a large, covered arena or covered barn.

  • Please bring a folding chair for all adults. Children will have benches to sit on.

  • All children must wear close-toed shoes.


Minimum Participants (or we’ll need to cancel): 10

Maximum Participants: 15

READ THIS TO KNOW WHAT NUMBER TO CHOOSE WHEN REGISTERING

Adults are welcome to attend, but will not participate. You do NOT need to include adults in your registration number. Please select a number that reflects ONLY STUDENTS. This class is appropriate for 4K to 12th grade. Children 3-and-under are welcome to attend, but cannot participate. We highly recommend that "littles" remain home for this one.

WISE students: no cost

Guest students: $30
