About the Event

Did you know that bees live for 40 days? From the moment the egg is laid to their death, their lifespan is that short. Did you know that honey bees are NOT endangered? Bees are fascinating and their honey is delicious. Come learn about this important insect, how to raise and care for them, and maybe get inspired.

Martin, our speaker, has been beekeeping for decades. He is the president of the Portage County Hobbiest Beekeepers and is on the lookout for some special students. If you are a teenager, willing to be mentored, and willing to speak at monthly meetings, you can apply for a full beekeeping setup. If interested, come to this presentation and speak with Martin.

12:45 - Arrive and get settled in the Pinery Room (main level of the library)

1:00 - 3:00 - Presentation (NO live bees will be present)

Deadline to Register: Tuesday, October 10

This presentation is geared toward older elementary students on up. Younger children are welcome, but this will be lecture-style, so please be aware that it might not be as stimulating for littles. There is no charge for guests, but WISE students will receive priority.

While we hope that everyone who registers is able to attend, we know that sometimes things happen. Please inform us at least 48 hours in advance if you are unable to attend.
